The farm of Rennieston is linked with an upland farm, Chatto as a beef and sheep enterprise. Arable land at Rennieston is used to grow fodder crops and the pasture by rotation can fatten the beef. The owner chose to create a new steading with state of the art facilities retaining just one central passage cattle court from the original group. There is a grain store, implement shed, hay shed and two new cattle courts. The yards have been concreted and a covered midden at the bottom of the site. There are bull pens and cattle handling facilities. Blue fibre cement sheets for roofing together with a red profiled steel wall cladding tie the group of buildings together whilst the layout gives shelter and allows easy access and separation for animals and vehicles.
