A fairytale treehouse is everyone’s dream but the project at Ferniecastle hotel went horribly wrong when the builder went bankrupt and left an impractical construction that had no local authority consent. Its intended use as a honeymoon suite was out of the question. Quercus rural building design came to the rescue with a bit of prudent hands on tree surgery, a full survey and detail design work with specifications to meet the building codes. This was followed by complex negotiations with Fife Council that convinced them of the safe and practical operation of the treehouse. The owner Neil Blackburn was able to complete the inspirational project using a variety of craftsman in this unique edifice. There really is nothing like it and we are delighted that our knowledge of wacky timber structures could be put to good use.
