The Equestrian Centre at Cousland near Dalkeith has a facility that is unique in Scotland. This is a swimming pool for horses with entrance and exit ramps and a loop that allows for longer swims. The building has a wash down and solarium area and links to a horse walker for drying off. As well as the ancillary offices, which include a conservatory for the horse owners, there is a stables yard with accommodation for twenty six horses. Operating as a training yard for racehorses the pool is proving its worth both in giving general exercise to the horses and to help horses recover from injury.

Quercus rural building design were happy to extend their expertise in stock buildings to deal with design of the unique features of an equine pool.
